Eastbourne based Jaguar specialist garage JAGtechnic, is undertaking an impressive charity drive to Venice travelling through eight countries in five days to raise funds for our local hospice. St Wilfrid`s looks after 1000 adults with life limiting conditions in the East Sussex area. Paul Chipp-Smith, Director and owner of JAGtechnic aims to raise £12,000 to help the hospice buy essential medical equipment for their new purpose built facility at Cross Levels Way, Eastbourne.
This special drive starts on 6th September with the route passing through France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and lastly, to Venice in Italy.
The JAGtechnic team acquired a 1995 XJ6 model which they`ve spent the past few months preparing for the task. This vehicle has been sign written with the logos of a number of local and national business supporters. Reid Briggs Insurance Brokers is proud to be one of these supporters, and the logo appears on the front wings of the car.
Kevin Barnard, Reid Briggs co-Director, explains why he got involved with the appeal:When Paul outlined his drive plan seeking local sponsors, we were keen to support him as we look to support local charity projects where we can. Also, as a member of the Jaguar Enthusiasts Club, for me there is a personal as well as a business interest.
Keely Rust, Charities insurance manager added:Knowing of the steadfast work St Wilfrid`s has been doing in our community for many years and their reliance upon community fundraising to generate income, we were keen to help. With our company milestone of fifty years in business in 2014, we hope we can help Paul and the JAGtechnic team to maximise their fundraising efforts.
JAGtechnic are displaying the car at several local events to raise awareness of the appeal and allow individuals to pledge a personal donation to write the name of a loved one on the roof of the car. Later in the year will be a summer BBQ and Gala Dinner to boost the fundraising total. The car itself will be raffled off after the event to raise as much money as possible for this very worthy cause.
